Post-summer musings

This past summer 2023, I was lucky enough to spend 7 weeks in Norway. I was based again in Oslo, at the same apartment I rented last year. I was happy being in the same apartment and area of Oslo since I knew where the best grocery stores were and where to get my favorite boller (cardamom rolls). The Royal Palace was a 3-minute walk, and the apartment where Thor lived with his mother before he moved to Hammerfest, was on Oscarsgt., right around the corner. It felt safe and familiar. It was “my” neighborhood.

My plan was to finish up research and complete a working draft of the memoir by the end of the summer. I didn’t quite achieve this goal - I was 1/2 chapter shy. I have been using the writing program Scrivener, and while writing I began having problems with the program around the beginning of August. Apparently, I had been inserting images and PDF files incorrectly and the program kept hanging up while I was writing. I will have to re-insert the images properly and will then be able to continue the writing and finish the draft. I hope to have the first draft completed sometime within the next 2 months.
