Effects of the Pandemic - 2021

On February 19, 2020, I was excited to share the news of my being awarded a 3-week artist residency in Norway which was to begin June 21, 2020. Obviously, this did not happen. The Covid-19 Pandemic changed the world forever. As of this writing, July 9, 2021, over 600,000 people have died from the virus in the United States alone. As of today, I still cannot travel to Norway. The residency is postponed until August 2022.

In addition to the craziness, I am now retired from my job at a small private college in upstate New York (approx. 200 miles northwest of New York City). I hadn’t planned to retire (just yet), but the pandemic devastated educational institutions across the country and my position (the one I’ve been at for 27 years) was eliminated. This, as you can imagine, has affected my writing, my life, and my future.

However, on a positive note, I now have more time to devote to research, writing, and updating this blog. I plan to streamline the site, editing the blog posts and putting photographs and descriptions in the Portfolio section.

Please email me if you have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions as I re-imagine the site and content.
